Overview

Origin Aluminium Windows & Doors: what you need to know

Black Origin aluminium front door with stainless bar handle and frosted side panel, Northern Ireland

What Origin aluminium is

Origin is a manufacturer of aluminium windows and doors, and it's the range our customers choose most often. Its products include bi-fold doors, sliding doors, French doors, front doors and windows, all made to measure for the opening they're going into. We don't manufacture; we supply Origin products and fit them ourselves, so the people who survey your home are the same people responsible for installing it properly.

Who it suits

Origin suits homeowners who want large areas of glass with slim frames, a modern or classic look, and a guarantee they can rely on. It works for new extensions, kitchen and living-room renovations, self-builds and straightforward replacements where the old frames have had their day. Most of our Origin customers are households on the north coast and across Northern Ireland.

When it's the right time

People usually come to us when draughts, condensation or stiff handles have become a daily annoyance, when an extension is being planned, or when they want to open up the back of the house to the garden. If you are planning building work, talking to us early means the openings can be sized around the product rather than the other way round.

Why professional fitting matters

An aluminium frame is only as good as the installation. A frame that isn't level, square and properly sealed will bind, leak or let in cold air, no matter how good the product is. Fitting it correctly also matters for the manufacturer's guarantee. Our fitters have 15 years' experience installing aluminium, and they set each frame so it works the way Origin designed it to.

The cost of waiting

What happens if you leave it

Putting off replacing tired windows and doors rarely saves money. Here's what tends to happen.

Heat escapes and bills climb

Old frames with failed seals let warm air out and cold air in. You heat the house harder for a room that never feels comfortable.

Condensation and mould

Cold frames and failed glazing units attract condensation, which runs onto sills and walls and encourages mould around the window reveal.

Mechanisms wear out

Handles, hinges and locks on worn doors get harder to operate. Eventually a door can't be locked properly, which is both a nuisance and a security worry.

Common mistakes we see

  • Choosing on price alone and ending up with a product that has a short or unclear guarantee.
  • Ordering before the opening is properly surveyed, so the frame doesn't sit right.
  • Using a supplier who doesn't fit, leaving no single team responsible if something isn't right.
  • Leaving glazing decisions until after building work, limiting the size and style available.

Our process

Five clear steps, start to finish

  1. 01

    Free survey at your home

We visit, measure the opening and talk through how you want the Origin windows or doors to look and work. You get honest advice on sizes, configurations and finishes, at no cost.

  2. 02

    Clear written quote

You receive a written quote setting out the product, the brand, the finish and the fitting. No prices hidden in small print and no pressure to decide on the spot.

  3. 03

    Order with a 65% deposit

Once you're happy, a 65% deposit places the order with the manufacturer. Your products are made to the exact measurements taken at survey.

  4. 04

    Installation by our fitting team

Our fitters remove the old frame, prepare the opening, install the new Origin windows or doors, seal it and check it opens, closes and locks smoothly.

  5. 05

    Completion and handover

We tidy up, walk you through operation and care, and confirm the manufacturer's guarantee. The balance is due on the day of completion, and aftercare call-outs on doors we've fitted are free.

Benefits

What you get

20-year guarantee

Origin products come with a 20-year manufacturer's guarantee, so you know where you stand for the long term.

More light, slimmer frames

Aluminium's strength means thinner frames and more glass, so rooms feel brighter and bigger.

Low maintenance

Powder-coated aluminium doesn't need painting. A wipe-down keeps it looking right.

One team, start to finish

The team that surveys your home also fits it, so nothing is lost between salesman and installer.

Made to measure

Each product is manufactured to your measurements, not forced into the opening.

Free aftercare on our doors

If a door we fitted needs looking at, the call-out is free.

In detail

Options, materials and methods

Everything worth knowing before your survey, so you can make a confident decision.

Products in the Origin range

We supply and fit Origin bi-fold doors, sliding doors, French doors and windows, along with glazed gables built from aluminium frames. Because the range shares a design language, you can mix products across the back of a house and keep the frames and colours consistent. That matters when a kitchen extension has bi-folds on one wall and windows on another.

Finishes and colours

Origin frames are powder coated, which gives a hard, even finish. Many customers pick dark greys and blacks to suit modern homes, while others choose lighter shades to blend with render or stone. Some products can have a different colour inside and out. We'll bring samples to the survey so you can see colours in your own light rather than on a screen.

Glazing and hardware

The glazing and handle options affect how your door or window looks and performs. During the survey we'll talk through glazing choices, handle styles and locking, and point out anything that suits the way your household uses the space, such as a traffic door on a bi-fold for everyday access.

Replacements versus new openings

On a replacement, the old frame comes out and the new Origin frame is fitted into the existing opening, with any making good around it. On a new extension or self-build, we work with your builder so the opening is formed to suit the product. Both approaches work well; the key is measuring at the right stage.

Living on the north coast

Homes around Coleraine, Portrush and Portstewart take a lot of wind and rain. Aluminium frames don't rot or swell, and powder coating stands up well to weather. Careful sealing at installation is what keeps that weather on the outside.

Before your free survey

To get the most from your survey, have a think about a few things beforehand: how you use the room day to day, the look you're aiming for, any colours or finishes you already like, and whether other building or decorating work is planned. Photos of styles you like are useful too. None of this is essential, as we'll guide you through every choice, but it helps us give you a precise origin aluminium windows & doors quote in a single visit.

What our customers tell us matters

Our one Facebook recommendation so far describes the installation as done professionally, fitted neatly, with a friendly and efficient team. That's exactly what we aim for on every job: turning up when we say we will, protecting your home while we work, fitting carefully, and leaving the room clean. If you've had work done by us, we'd be grateful for a Google review.

Paying for your project

We keep payment simple and transparent. A 65% deposit is taken to order your products from the manufacturer, and the balance is due on the day of completion, once the job is finished. We don't publish prices, because every home is different. Get in touch for a quote. Your written quote will show exactly what you're paying for.

Choosing a brand

We supply and fit products from manufacturers rather than making our own, which means we can recommend what genuinely suits your home. Origin aluminium is our best seller and carries a 20-year manufacturer's guarantee. RK Steel is our main steel brand, for internal and external windows and doors. We also supply Palladio and Bel'M. At survey we'll explain the differences in plain terms.

Understanding the guarantee

Because we don't manufacture, the guarantee on your product is the manufacturer's guarantee, and it varies by brand. Origin products carry a 20-year manufacturer's guarantee. For other brands, we'll confirm the guarantee for your specific product in writing with your quote, so there are no surprises later.

Getting an accurate quote

Every opening is different, so we don't publish prices. The fastest route to a firm figure is a free survey: we measure, check the condition of the opening and talk through the finish, glazing and hardware you want. You'll get a written quote listing exactly what's included before you decide anything.

Homes we work on

Our customers are mainly households: replacements in existing homes, renovations, extensions and self-builds. P Black and Son supplies products from manufacturers and fits them, so you deal with one team from first visit to final handover.
