Portstewart homes
Portstewart has traditional terraces along the Promenade, larger detached homes on the roads above the town, a lot of modern apartments, and family homes and bungalows towards the Strand and the golf courses. Many households are upgrading for comfort and views, while others are renovating properties bought as family or holiday homes.
Families and downsizers
We see both families extending to make more room and people downsizing into bungalows and apartments. Both often want more light and less maintenance, which aluminium handles well.
What Portstewart homeowners ask us for
Bi-folds for family extensions
Families extending at the back of the house often want bi-fold doors that open fully onto the garden.
Picture windows
Larger aluminium windows with slim frames suit homes with views over the bay or towards Donegal.
Steel internal screens
In renovations, RK Steel internal doors and screens are a popular way to divide open-plan spaces.

Planning your project in Portstewart
Choosing glazing for a Portstewart home
Portstewart homes range from Promenade terraces to large detached houses on the roads above the town. Before your survey, think about how your household uses the back of the house and the garden. Families who spend summer evenings outside usually get the most from bi-folds; people who mainly want light and a view are often better served by sliders or larger windows.
Apartments on the Promenade and beyond
Many Portstewart apartments have balconies or terraces facing the sea. Replacing balcony doors in an apartment block needs planning for access and lifting large glass, and it may involve the building's management. We'll look at access during the survey and talk you through what's involved before you commit.
Renovating a family or holiday home
We see a lot of Portstewart properties bought as family or holiday homes and then renovated. Often the windows and doors are replaced as part of a wider refurbishment, alongside new kitchens and internal changes. In those projects, RK Steel internal screens and glazed aluminium internal doors are popular ways to open up layouts while keeping rooms separate.
Near the Strand and the golf links
Homes towards Portstewart Strand and the golf courses are some of the most exposed in the area, with wind coming straight off the sea. For these properties, correctly sealed, low-maintenance aluminium frames are the sensible long-term choice.
What to expect on fitting day in Portstewart
Our fitters protect your home, remove the old frames, then fix and seal the new windows or doors. Every opening part is tested before we hand over. On Promenade properties and homes facing the Strand, seals on the weather side get extra attention. We tidy up as we go and explain how to operate and care for your new frames before we leave, and the balance is due once the job is complete.
Matching what you already have
If part of your Portstewart home already has aluminium doors or windows, we can usually suggest new frames and colours that sit well alongside them, so a phased upgrade still looks like one job.
